Where Good Habits Grow.

Those early trips to the dentist are about much more than checking little teeth. They’re a chance for kids to get used to the chair, meet their dentist, ask plenty of questions and discover that a dental visit isn’t something to fear.

Regular children’s dental check-ups also give us the chance to keep an eye on growing teeth and gums, spot any concerns early and share practical tips for looking after their smile at home.

From your toddler’s first-tooth visit to your teenager’s mouthguard fitting, we’ll take the time to make every appointment a positive one.

Gentle Care for Growing Teeth.

From first check-ups to mouthguards for sporty teens, there’s a lot that happens between those first tiny teeth and a full set of grown-up ones. We’re here for all of it, with gentle care, practical advice and plenty of encouragement along the way.

F irst Dental Visits
We'll gently check their teeth and gums, answer your questions and give your child plenty of time to settle into their new surroundings.
C heck-ups & Cleans
Regular children's dental check-ups and kids’ teeth cleaning help us keep an eye on growing teeth, remove plaque build-up and spot any changes that may need attention.
F luoride & Fissure Sealants
Sometimes growing teeth can use a little extra protection. Fluoride treatments can help strengthen tooth enamel, while fissure sealants protect the deep grooves in back teeth where food and bacteria can easily collect.
C hildren's Fillings
Cavities happen. If your child needs a filling, we'll explain what's happening in language they can understand and take things gently, helping make treatment as comfortable as possible.
C ustom Sports Mouthguards
Football, basketball, hockey or another weekend sport? A custom-fitted mouthguard helps protect growing teeth from knocks and injuries, so your child can get on with doing what they love.
C hildren's Dental Emergencies
Falls, bumps and unexpected toothaches are all part of family life. If something happens, our kids' dentist in Harpley can assess the problem and help get your child the prompt or emergency dental care they need.
M onitoring Growth & Development
As your child grows, so do their teeth and jaws. Regular visits allow us to monitor how their teeth, bite and jaws are developing and let you know if there's anything we think deserves a closer look.
M yobrace®

Myobrace® is a removable pre-orthodontic treatment. It may be recommended for some children to address oral habits and support the development of the teeth and jaws.

If we think Myobrace® may benefit your child, we'll explain how it works, what's involved and whether it's suitable for their individual needs.

Children's Dentistry. Designed With Kids (and Parents) in Mind.

A trip to the dentist can feel like a big deal, especially when it’s their early visits. So, we’ve thought about what makes it easier for kids and their parents. A friendly face, time to settle in, something fun to watch and appointments that don’t turn the whole family schedule upside down.

Room to Play

Our kids’ corner gives younger patients somewhere to play and get familiar with their surroundings before it’s time to hop into the dental chair.

Screen Time, Dentist Style

Once they’re in the chair, ceiling-mounted TVs give kids something else to focus on while we get on with looking after their teeth.

Gentle From the Get-Go

We’ll explain what’s going to happen in words kids understand, introduce them to a few of our tools and let them see what they do before we get started. No surprises, and no rushing.

One Less Thing to Juggle

School. Sport. Play dates. Life gets busy. With late appointments on Thursdays and weekend availability, it’s easier to find a time that works for your family.

Payments Made Simple

We offer a range of payment options to help make dental care more accessible for you and your family.

FAQs

Earlier than many parents realise! Ideally, we’d love to meet your child when their first teeth begin appearing or by their first birthday – whichever comes first. Kids’ initial visits aren’t usually about treatment. It’s a chance to check that everything is developing normally, answer any questions, offer some practical brushing advice and, most importantly, let your child get used to the dentist.
There’s no one-size-fits-all answer because every child’s teeth are different. Regular children’s dental check-ups give us the chance to keep an eye on their teeth and gums as they grow, spot small changes early and help them build good habits at home. We’ll let you know how often we’d recommend seeing your child based on their individual needs.
That’s okay. Some kids are naturally curious about the dentist, while others need a little longer to warm up to the idea. Our approach as a gentle dentist for children is to go at their pace. We’ll chat to them at their level, explain what we’re doing in words they understand and give them time to become comfortable with us and the dental chair.
We’ll gently remove plaque and tartar that brushing at home may have missed, while keeping your child comfortable and letting them know what’s happening as we go. Kids’ teeth cleaning is also a great opportunity to talk about brushing in a way that makes sense to them and share a few simple tips to make looking after their teeth at home easier.
They certainly do! Baby teeth help your child eat, speak and hold space for the adult teeth developing underneath. Looking after them also gives children plenty of time to practise brushing and build healthy habits before their grown-up teeth arrive.
Kids have a habit of bumping teeth at the least convenient moment! If it happens, give us a call as soon as you can. What we recommend will depend on whether it’s a baby or adult tooth and how it’s been injured. Our kid’s dentist in Werribee can assess what’s happened and let you know what needs to happen next.

Look for someone who understands that every child will approach the dentist differently. A child-friendly dentist should be patient, explain things in age-appropriate language and give children the time they need to become familiar with their surroundings.

At Harpley Dental, we’ve also designed our children’s dental clinic with families in mind. There’s a kids’ corner for playtime, ceiling-mounted TVs for some in-chair entertainment and appointments available later on Thursdays and across the weekend to make fitting in a visit easier for parents too.
